I was thinking about the concept of bar hopping, because I realised that often what a lot of us end up doing in the cold dark winter days in Berlin, is literally hopping from one café’ to the next. Well, on the weekend at least. We relocate our booties from one cozy couch to another, trying to avoid the cold. Working, reading, chatting and whatnot.
A substantial part of my last week was also spent hiding indoors in houses and offices (which I won’t bore you with…). Here are 3 spots, which I think you might like to hop to yourself, sometime in this lifetime…
This cool little spot has become more of a regular place for me recently, as it happens to be very near my new house to be (I am in a long process moving/renovating all the lot) and the office I work from. My photos don’t do it justice, but trust me if I say it’s the cutest place around the block and makes for good people/outfit watching ;-) It’s also a good spot to do some writing when it’s not too busy, so me and my writing buddy T. have met here a few times to do some scribbling practice ;-)
Also, their banana cake will make you swoon but don’t eat too much of it (the slices are the size of a brick), other wise you will end up pot bellied ;-)
This place is tucked away and hidden in an inner courtyard in Berlin, Mitte. Enter, and you will find yourself in a calm tropical planted oasis, in a beautiful Vietnamese tearoom with delicious drinks and elaborate snacks. Chen Chee has also a lovely garden where you can cool down in the summer, but for the moment I recommend a hot tea :-)
If you would like to experience a more established Berlin breakfast hangout, head out to this spot in Schöneberg. Serving an endless variety of all day breakfast creations, I was amazed at how huge this place is. The top floor serves an all-you-can eat breakfast buffet which might be just what you are looking for after a night of wild partying in Berlin’s excellent clubs.
